Egypt exports 80,000 tons of fresh fruit and vegetables in one week

Egypt’s National Food Safety Authority (NFSA) reports that the country shipped 230,000 tons of food products across 3,700 export consignments during the week of September 5 to 11, 2026, handled by 1,424 exporting companies and covering around 720 food product categories.

According to the NFSA’s 34th weekly report for 2026, vegetable exports covered 37 categories and totalled 50,000 tons for the week. Potatoes led Egypt’s vegetable exports at 18,000 tons, followed by onions at 14,000 tons.

Fruit exports spanned 30 categories and reached 30,000 tons. Mangoes topped the fruit category at 8,000 tons, followed by strawberries at 7,000 tons and pomegranates at 5,000 tons.

Sudan, Syria, and Saudi Arabia ranked as the top three destination countries for Egyptian food exports during the week, followed by Lebanon and Italy. In total, Egyptian food products reached 163 importing countries.

Among Egypt’s ports, Safaga handled the largest number of food export consignments during the period, processing 665 consignments. Alexandria Port followed with 545 consignments, and Damietta Port handled 455 consignments.
